Dewey's Hat Factory

Ralph Dewey's DVD Hat Factory is a great choice for twisters with basic twisting skills, and for people that lack the basic skills he recommends a few of his books and a DVD to begin with.  On this DVD Dewey teaches twelve different hats using a few different hat bases such as the Triangle and the Indian Feather, and he also uses a few odd things such as hex nuts and flashing lights.  He also likes to use hearts for decoration, details, and eyes.  He uses such techniques as a flat weave and an inverted geo.  I personally liked his choice in backgrounds, too.  Although the background is not as important as the content of the DVD, a background that is too bland sometimes makes the whole picture dull, and a background that is too lively can be distracting.  His choice for this DVD is tasteful.
   
    The hats he demonstrates on this DVD can be used for many occasions and they're mostly pretty quick.  He shows how to make his Ghost with sound effects using a hex nut and then he demonstrates how to make it into a hat which is perfect for Halloween parties.  His Tiara which uses flashing lights is great for birthday princesses and the King's Crown is wonderful for any birthday boy.  For creature lovers he offers the Jumping Frog Hat, the Cow Hat, the Elephant Hat, and the Walrus hat.  The Clown Head Hat is quick and versatile.  My personal favorite is the Bug Hat, and there is also a great Statue of Liberty Hat and a cute Mouse or Baby KangaROO hat, which kids just love.  I've been incorporating many of these into my routines ever since I purchased the DVD.  I highly recommend it even if you're not much of a hat-maker and I think this DVD will be a wonderful addition to any collection.
